Anna and Steve's Experience
Anna and Steve recently purchased a wonderful 150 year old period Victorian property, originally belonging to the Mentmore Tower's estate, that was badly in need of refurbishment. They wanted a period look to complement the building but in a more modern style.
Working on the ground floor, kitchen, breakfast room, dining room, sitting room and stairway, it didn't take long to agree colours and papers and we soon set to work painting, refinishing floors an furniture sourcing. New sofas have been ordered and many, many pieces of period furniture sourced for the Perfect Victorian cottage look.
Once the sofas have arrived will be back for final photographs, but here are a few of our working highlights . . .
BACK TO HARRY AND ELLEN'S
A few years go we refurbished Harry and Ellen's kitchen with a lovely bayberry green so they called us back to freshen and modernise the rest of their lovely, split level home.
The living room, dining room, both hallways, entrance hall, and two of the bedrooms were meticulously decluttered, repainted, refurbished, restyled and redressed. Downstairs the old carpets were ripped up to reveal original floorboards which we refurbished in a warm mid oak. Even the stairs had a smart new look as did a wonderful old wardrobe we found in the cellar along the way . . .
cAROLINE AND mIKE'S KITCHEN/DINING/SNUG
Caroline and Mike have a fantastic open plan room at the rear of their home housing the kitchen, dining and family snug. Originally all neutral they wanted to add colour to the room.
Creating a cohesive design to flow throughout, defining each space and cozying the snug we chose a forest green for the kitchen, matching the colour all along the rear wall, paired with a contemporary large print wallpaper, a neutral stone and wow factor metalic copper to the central island . . .
TRACY AND CLIVE'S Experience
Tracy and Clive have a lovely period property, updated a few years ago, they wanted a fresher look. Working on the kitchen, master bedroom, guest bedroom and bathrooms we paired beautiful wallpaper prints from Graham and Brown. Farrow and Ball and The Warner House with sublime colours to create a sophisticated look throughout.
In the master we used mirror tiles to line the vanity alcove and framed them with a gold finish.
Whilst there we chatted about ideas for the garden and recommended a gazebo for outside entertaining which Jay and our apprentice Oscar set to work on. Five days later it was complete and ready for dressing.
Carol's Vintage Bathr0om
Carol lives in a beautiful old farmhouse that she's spent years modernising, she found us just in time for the ensuite bathroom makeover.
A complete overhaul was required and the design was to be Victorian cottage. New panelling, new suite, new flooring, I even sourced and refurbished furniture to complement . . .
Justin and Debra's Experience
Justin and Debra live in rural Buckinghamshire with their 2 children, Chloe aged 13 and Joshie aged 2. Last year, their chalet bungalow was converted to a 9 roomed home but lacked the 'wow factor' they wanted. Having purchased Imperfectly Perfect furniture previously, they were delighted when we lauched the Interiors side to the business and eagerly booked a consultation. From there, Jay and I designed and implemented their experience and created their Perfect home, complete with 'wow factor' in every room . . .
Jacqui's 'Ongoing' Experience
I first met Jacqui back in 2014 just after Imperfectly Perfect Bespoke Furniture was launched and have since painted every piece in her lovely home. Jacqui lives in a beautiful converted barn in rural Buckinghamshire and has that rare ability to mix all colours into her decor. As our relationship grew I started recommending and sourcing pieces to add to her collection and wall colourings to complement them.
A few years ago I sent my Jay of all Trades round to help Jacqui out with some home DIY projects, from painting and decorating to hanging window dressings, garden projects, even programming her Alexa!
And last year Jay painted Jacqui's kitchen giving it a modern feel with a twist of industrial chic.
Here is Jacqui's ongoing experience . . .
Downstairs at Gemma's
Gemma and her family live on the outskirts of Chesham, Buckinghamshire, in a large new build property. They've done a beautiful job with their girl's rooms but being busy professionals they struggle to find the time for the rest of the house.
The house is not currently to Gemma's taste, she loves soft pastels and shabby chic accessories which don't sit well with her modern finishings. Especially the dark contemporary kitchen.
Through July and August 2021 Jay and I started on 2 rooms, culminating in a total rehaul of the downstairs. With the study booked for October and upstairs for the New Year, working with a colour pallette of beautiful pastels and Voyage Maison florals, we're thoroughly enjoying working with this pretty refurbishment and for this lovely family.
Arti's Experience
Arti and her family live in an idylic village in South Buckinghamshire in a newly rennovated house where original character and modern style combine to create a wonderful family home.
Arti's experience started in September with my Jay of all Trades designing and building wardrobes, with additional storage, tidying up their dressing room . . .
Cheryl's Experience
Cheryl and her mum, Joan, have a lovely, open plan chalet bungalow with a pale grey, minimalistic interior. Having recently had a new kitchen installed they were looking to inject colour, warmth and personality to reflect their own into their home.
We chose a beautiful colour palette of Farrow and Ball's Pelt purple, Calluna lilac and Pigeon green/grey, all taken from the beautiful Laura Ashley Wisteria wallpaper.
The refurbishment took 3 weeks and not only included decorating but also furniture refurbishment and sourcing . . .
Sandra's Entrance Floor Experience
Sandra has travelled the world and her home is full of decor inspired by her travels. Wonderful, unique, oversized pieces with style to die for, so her makeover had to complement, pulling together her lounge, dining and study with one cohesive flow.
Sandra's favourite colour is Farrow and Ball's Pitch Blue, a colour she already had with the study storage and dining room carpet, so when it came to refurbishing her furniture I mixed the Perfect colour match in chalk paint. using leopard print stencilling to give her furniture the wow factor.
For the formerly white lounge we chose to highlight the facing feature wall with a feature jungle woven linen wallpaper in a muted black and gold, updating 2 large display vases in cracked gold leaf over a black base to complement and adding a pop of red behind the log burner in the fireplace.
For Sandra's dreary study,we dispelled the myth that painting a small room plain white makes it look larger, adding the same wallpaper as the lounge, but this time in black on white. The black gives the facing wall movement, tricking the eye and giving the illusion of space. A north facing room, we warmed the remaining walls with a soft peach, the same tone as the yew furniture.
And Sandra's old pedestal desk breaks the sea of yew furniture with its new look. The same blue from the storage cupboards, black and white leapard and gold detailing, all finished with new statement agate knobs.
When we'd finished Sandra agreed wallpapapering the facing wall in the dining room would be the Perfect finishing touch, as would a wallpapered wall in the hallway, so we're going back in April.
Upstairs at Gemma's
In February 2022 we went back to Gemma and James's, this time to tackle their master bedroom suit, incorporating dressing room and ensuite.
We chose a slightly darker, warmer look to Gemma's beloved pastels, Farrow and Ball's French Gray, paired with Pink Ground, a pale salmon, again with Voyage Maison wallpaper detailing.
The refurbishment included wood and wallpaper panelling, new bedding and accessories, updating Gemma's original furniture and a hand painted floral mural above the bath . . .
Joel and Lucy's Experience
Joel and Lucy were lucky enough to purchase the early 1900's adjacent property to theirs overlooking the rolling hills of Buckinghamshire. Their long term intention is to demolish both properties and build a large, contemporary home, but in the short term, with a growing family, they wanted to use this property as an extension to their current home.
The property was very dated, consisted of 8 rooms, set over 3 floors, and this was their Perfect Home Experience . . .
IN THE LIVING ROOM AT CAROL AND GWYN'S
We've known Carol for longer than we can remember so when she wanted to update her living room she new where to come, and it didn't take long for us to establish that adding red feature walls would do the job just perfectly. A cleaner neutral for the remaining walls, new blinds with a stripe design best complimented the lovely heavy curtains, which also benefitted from a new hanging layout, and variety of new accessories were sourced along with 2 pieces of furniture we hand painted for the perfect finishing touches.
Oh, and while we were there the cold entrance hall got an overall too; warmed by rose pink walls with a complementery frieze, a new ceiling to replace the old polystyrene tiles and a lovely new floor too . . .
LAURENCE AND ROB'S WOW FACTOR EXTENSION
Laurence and Rob called us in to design the Perfect interior space in their new, open plan living, dining and kitchen area. We quickly established they loved Farrow and Ball's Green Blue so the design was created around it. It took nearly 400 wallpaper options to find the Perfect one, bold enough to carry the vaulted wall yet subtle enough not to dominate.
To add wow factor to the very white gloss kitchen we chose F&B's stunning Vardo which defined the space and complemented the theme Just Perfectly.
All new furniture had to be sourced, most of which was bespoke, we're waiting with baited breath to take final images . . .
in the kITCHEN, DINING ROOM & GARDEN AT pAULA'S
Paula was tired of her very dark kitchen and whilst on the consultation she asked for our opinons on how to best add a touch of colour to her very dark wood monocromatic home.
For the kitchen we chose a light stone greige, complemented by a soft French grey/green for the feature walls, updating a couple of large lamp bases along the way.
Whilst there we tackled Paula's curb appeal, or lack thereof, painting the garage and ront doors in a smart light grey, digging up the dead box hedging and laying new gravel dotted with small evergreen shrubs, painted all the fences and even built a bespoke bin store . . .
Sandra's GROUND FL0OR Experience
Back to Sandra's we went, this time to tackle her ground floor creating the same cohesive flow but this time with a botanical theme to bring the garden inside.
Four room's were involved in the refurbishment, the master bedroom and bathroom, hallway and garden lounge.
The theme was based around 2 colours of Woodchip and Magnolia Wisteria wallpaper; indigo blue for the bedroom and yellow for the garden room. In the bedroom we freshened the white walls and ceilings and custom mixed a blue and lilac grey for the funiture refurbishments, using the same blue for the walls in what was a very white bathroom. Then I set to create the wisteria mural.
The garden room had 3 walls papered in the yellow wisteria, working around the two large bi-fold doors; the dining table base refurbished in a soft green/grey to complement.
To pull the two rooms together Sandra's existing furniture was refurbished in the same green/grey of the dining table and the grey/pink from the bedroom furniture, all finished with gold bee stencil detailing . . .
Jess's Teenage Room
Mum Tirrie has many projects we'll be consulting on, the first was her son, Jess's, dream bedroom. A night and day theme with midnight star speckled sky and an ombre sunrise wall, tongue and groove panelling with shelf and a wonderful refinished floor . . .
